Egg Patties For Egg Sandwiches

There are many ways to prepare eggs, from scrambled to poached to omelets… eggs are a universal breakfast staple around the world. Egg patties are the perfect way to serve eggs for breakfast. These are easy to make and make a great addition to your breakfast sandwiches. You can season them to your liking or leave them plain with salt and pepper. Your breakfast routine will be transformed with these egg patties.

How To Make The Egg Patties?

Eggs, heavy cream, and seasonings are all that you need to make these egg patties.

There are different ways to shape these, and I tested them all, including some tips from TikTok.

There are some tips and tricks on TikTok that I follow just to check them out and see if they may be useful. Here are the best and worst ways to make egg patties.

  • Use silicone molds; Silicone molds are the easiest to use. They’re shaped like circles and have handles so you can lift the patties. They fit nicely on any skillet without leaking eggs.

  • The lid of a Mason jar comes with a detachable part that comes in handy when making patties. Before you use the lid, grease it so that eggs won’t stick to it.

  • Using mini spring forms is just as effective as using mason jar lids. They will fit tightly on the skillet without leaking.

    • Because of all the mechanisms and the lock system on these spring forms, the eggs may stick to them even though they have a non-stick coating.

  • I recently watched a TikTok hack that involved rubbing garlic over a skillet to prepare perfect shaped eggs.

    • This trick will not work for patties as the barrier only works on a thin layer of eggs. The trick prevents the egg from spilling over and gives it a perfect shape.

How To Cook Patties Perfectly

In my experience, cooking eggs in a skillet only results in the top of the egg becoming too brown after it has been cooked on top.

Cover the skillet completely while cooking the patties so that extra heat will cook the eggs from the top and the patty will be perfectly cooked all the way through.

Another option is to flip the patties, but flipping will deflate them.

Besides a skillet, you can also cook patties in your oven. If you want larger patties, use ramekins instead of muffin pans.

A 1-cup capacity ramekin like this one from Amazon will make nice patties that will perfectly fit your sandwich buns.

Milk Or Water?

The most common way people prepare eggs is to whisk them with milk or heavy cream. I also do this.

Milk gives the eggs a creamy texture, but that is not what we need for this recipe. Milk will make your patties fragile and they won’t stay together as well as they should.

Adding milk will also make the patties dense. To make them light and fluffy, use water instead of milk, along with baking powder if you like.

You can also use sparkling water instead of plain water, but don’t go overboard. Add 12 teaspoons sparkling water per large egg.

How To Season The Patties?

My favorite seasoning is salt and pepper. If you want some fresh herbs, I suggest parsley, or if you want something spicy, go for chili powder.

How To Serve Egg Patties

Served with sandwich buns, sausage patties, cheese, and some arugula, this provides a full breakfast experience.

Make sausage patties by squeezing the meat from the casing and shaping it into patties. Then cook the patties as usual.

As soon as all the key steps are completed, you can assemble the party as you wish. I like to melt the cheese on top of the sandwich buns and place the party in the oven for 5-6 minutes.

On top of the cheese, place the sausage patty, followed by the egg patty, and top with some arugula. You can also include condiments, and I love garlic aioli.
